Streamsong Resort and Spa – Imaginative and Unexpected
What happens when visionary minds of Mosaic re-purpose a 16,000 acre abandoned phosphate mine in the Bone Valley of Florida and create an otherworldly landscape for the pursuits of pleasure? You have Streamsong Resort and Spa, a Florida golf experience where the pleasures of culinary excellence, extravagant spa pampering, and world-class golf meld perfectly within a one-of-a-kind landscape in the heart of Florida. The emphasis here is pure relaxation for all of the senses.
Upon arrival, imaginative design of the 216 room luxury lodge and surrounding golf courses surprise the visitor as they rise quietly from the rolling hills, lakes and streams to bring native Florida to the forefront. The transformation is both unexpected and quite pleasing.
Bone Valley Florida
In past ages, the dinosaurs and Magolodon sharks roamed this land. A replica of a gigantic shark jaw near the hotel reception desk guards a photo collection of times when enormous bones were unearthed from the very ground where sports clays are now being shot. In fact, the Bone Valley phosphate mining region, home of Streamsong Resort, has produced some of the largest and best preserved Magalodon sharks teeth in Florida!
Today, however, instead of gigantic sharks, you’ll find a luxury resort hotel and golf village designed with spaces to soothe the senses and recharge the mind. The minimalist design of the Lodge is a product of Cuban-born Tampa architect Alberto Alfonso. Include two clubhouses, three golf courses, four restaurants, guided bass fishing, archery, walking trails, spa, and sporting clays for shooting – and you have a winning combination of food, fun, and fitness for all Florida golf enthusiasts.
Florida Golf Excellence
As Florida’s premier 54-hole luxury golf resort, it is also the only location in the world where players can enjoy 3 distinct courses (Red, Blue, and Black) designed by 4 legendary architects – Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, Tom Doak, and Gil Hanse. From the first tee of Streamsong Blue – 100 feet high atop a sand dune once mined for phosphate and now covered in native Florida grasses – you’ll be sure you’ve landed in another world entirely.
Culinary Options
Whether you choose to relax in a private cabana at the lakeside infinity pool after a round of golf on the new Streamsong Black course designed by Gil Hanse (named by Golf Magazine as the Best New Course in 2017) or to indulge in an aromatherapy deep tissue massage after lounging in one of the six hydro pools in the AcquaPietra Spa, your experience won’t be complete without a visit to one of the 6 restaurants on site.
The culinary team, lead by Executive Chef Michael Ford, are there to ensure your every whim is met with satisfaction. Specialties of each restaurant include both casual and fine dining to suit all tastes.
Sottoterra – signature restaurant featuring classic Italian cuisine and an extensive wine list, serving dinner 5 nights a week (closed Sunday and Monday) – Chef Roberto Franzoni.
P2O5 – breakfast, lunch and dinner; casual dining with craft and microbrewery specials.
Fragmentary Blue – sixth floor of the Lodge, cocktails and specialty plates from 4pm with a spectacular verandah view.
Restaurant Fifty-Nine – at the Clubhouse, with Chef Mark Traugutt. Specialties include whole Key West yellowtail and four peppercorn mizayaki Kobe ribeye steak.
Bone Valley Tavern (BVT) – Gastropub classics with sweeping views of the course at the new Streamsong Black Clubhouse, with Chef Victor Kendlehart.
Hemy’s – poolside casual. Perfect for relaxing after a morning on the course!
Mosaic, the world’s leading producer of phosphate crop nutrients is also the proud developer and owner of Streamsong Resort. Inspiration for this former mining site was to create a world-renowned luxury resort and Florida golf destination, one that celebrates the heritage of the land while offering guests a view of natural Florida not found at coastal high-rise and theme-park resorts typically visited by travelers to our beautiful state. They have succeeded.
Our Discovery
We discovered this hidden Florida jewel from an invitation to explore the property with other writers and bloggers at the cleverly named #streamsongscramble event. A delightful evening of menu sampling and conversation with chefs from the resort’s eclectic restaurants gave us a tiny taste of the quality of the guest experience. Our room was perfectly appointed with bathroom amenities from AcquaPietra Spa, a relaxing lounge area, plentiful desk space, windows that bring the beauty of Florida inside, and overlooking the serene bass lake. A spa appointment with a relaxing aromatherapy massage left us blissfully content. We wholeheartedly recommend giving Streamsong a look for your next getaway. They get the details right!
Looks like a great place to visit! I love florida. Sometimes I forget how many awesome places are in my own backyard!
Thanks! We also forget to sometimes just look around us to see all the amazing places to visit. Streamsong Resort was certainly a great find!
I’ve never heard of this place. Sounds exotic, with lots to do and experience while there.
It was a gem of a find, and only a short drive from our home. I am especially excited by the amazing spa experience the offered at the Streamsong Resort. No doubt there is a return visit in my future!
Great Post! Love all the information you provided here about the resort. The food.. looks so amazing, I’m drooling over here!
I will admit to not being much of a golfer, although after seeing the amazing course at the resort I might take it up! The great thing we found about Streamsong was that even a non-golfer will find plenty to do, and eat! Thanks for the comment!
Such great info. I’ll be heading to FL this summer – so helpful!

We were really intrigued about the history, both recent and prehistoric, surrounding the Streamsong Resort. Again, one of those gems just hidden in our backyard! Thanks for the comment!
I’ve never heard of this place and it looks like a gorgeous property! The food looks delicious and the spa sounds so relaxing 🙂
We had never heard of it either and as we approached the property we knew were were going to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. It is really in a beautifully secluded area with so much nature surrounding it. The spa was my personal highlight..ahh.. so relaxed! Thanks for the comment!
Were you able to golf while you were there? I would love to visit as a golfer, but I fear I wouldn’t be good enough for such serious courses.
Unfortunately we do not golf, YET! After seeing the stunning courses, I wanted to learn if for nothing else to roam around the property and take in the stunning views. We learned this resorts earned some high marks against other US courses. While a highly rated course, I got the feeling they would be fine embracing golfers of all skill sets. Give it a go! Thanks for the comment!
It really looks stunning. Would love to visit one of those six hydro pools in the AcquaPietra Spa, that sounds like something I’d enjoy. 🙂 And a restaurant afterwards for a nice meal and a dessert, along with the glass of wine? Oh, yes, please! 🙂
You pretty much nailed our itinerary!! The pool and spa area was not busy at all during the morning while all the golfers were out doing their thing so we had the place almost to ourselves. Each pool had different temperatures, including a 40 degree F plunge pool. I was able to dip my foot in that one, as I prefer the warmer pools. Thanks for the comment!
Wow, sounds like a great place! I especially love the food. Looks so yummy!
We were pleasantly surprised not only by the numerous options but also the world class cooking we experienced. You could definitely stay here for a week and never eat the same thing twice with all these options! Thanks for the comment!
I always wanted to visit Florida with my partner.
