Sea Lion Smile – Galapagos Photo of the Day

DSC_0279

How could you resist these happy sea lions? On our first full day in the Galapagos Islands, we took a small inflatable panga from our Ecoventura yacht for a “wet” landing on beautiful Cerro Brujo beach on the north coast of San Cristobal Island. A “wet” landing meant all 10 of us spilling out of the boat into the surf and stumbling toward the beach with our cameras and snorkel gear in tow. It must have quite a sight for the numerous sea lions basking on the beach. This one just couldn’t stop laughing!

San Cristobal was the first coast where Charles Darwin walked when he arrived in September 1835. Not much has changed since that time and it’s good to know the sea lion “locals” still greet visitors with a smile!
