One of the easiest and more beautiful ways to get between the North and South Islands of New Zealand is by ferry.  There are two major ferry services between the islands, the BlueBridge Ferry and the Interislander Ferry.  Both were similarly priced with the BlueBridge being slightly less expensive with an adult fare between $51 and $73 New Zealand Dollars [...]

Located within walking distance (300 meters) from the Interislander and Blue Bridge ferry terminal you will find this quaint backpackers lodge.  After the 3 hour ferry crossing it is a nice place to call home for a couple of days before taking on the rest of the South Island of New Zealand.   The Villa has a nice range of [...]

Located near the East end of the Catlins, this hostel was a great stopping point after spending the entire day sight seeing around the Catlins at the Southern point of New Zealand.  This is another BBH Hostel, so break out your discount card!  When we arrived we did not have reservations.  We were not sure how many days we had [...]

Located near the Nadi airport and offering free airport pick up, this hostel was a great stopping point after arriving in Nadi.  When we first arrived at the airport we were anxiously looking around for our ride.  After several minutes of not seeing anyone and apparently looking quite lost, an airport aide asked us if we needed help.  We told [...]

Please help us bring new books to this school library in Fiji, Book By Book! This is the library of Savusavu Secondary School on the island of Vanua Levu in Fiji – a school of 832 students from the ages of 13 to 20. Thanks to the hard work of the librarian (also the principal’s wife!), Mrs. Matakece, the room [...]

Splashing fountains and hands sticky with delicious gelato just seem to go together in Nice, France! A perfect spot to cool off and watch the people zip by.

Fun Photo Apps (CREATIVE) I recently read that 1/3 of all photos taken today are done with a smart phone. Wow! Clunky, heavy photography gear is quickly being replaced by thin, sleek camera cleverly disguised as a telephone. The convenience is clear. And with thousands of apps to choose from to make the picture process more fun, it will be [...]

Ok, I could get use to this ride!  During our travels one thing we noticed was the difference in transportation alternatives.  Most locals got around on foot, bike, moped, sub compact (Smart Cars), and of course the BMW C1.  The first thing we noticed was of course the moped’s sunroof!  I wish that these would catch on in America!

As our bus started down the road leading to this magnificent monument the cameras started to click.  The Atomium is certainly a site!  It was originally built for the Brussels World Fair in 1958, and while intended to be a temporary structure it remains today as one of the major attractions for visitors to Brussels.  The structure itself is composed [...]
