One of the most visible and beautiful landmarks in Paris, Sacre Coeur Basilica towers over the city from it’s perch on Monmartre Hill. During the day you can climb the 402 stairs to take in all the majesty the building offers – perhaps taking a stop on the lawn on the way up to enjoy a lunch of baguette and [...]
Be Not Inhospitable To Strangers Lest They Be Angels In Disguise Just across the Seine, in the shadow of of Notre Dame, on 37 rue de la Bucherie sits a booklovers dream – the famous Shakespeare and Company Bookstore. Named in 1964 as a tribute to Sylvia Beach’s famous 1920′s gathering place for writers we love today like Ernest Hemingway, [...]
You can feel the excitement in the words from our travel journal! We had made it to Paris, the spectacular City of Lights. The first few days had a bumpy start – from getting pickpocketed (TWICE!) to learning our way around Metro systems and trying out awkward French phrases we’d practiced so hard. But once we settled in, this place [...]
It was the typical rainy day in Brussels, but the streets and alleys were always bustling with activity. It was not uncommon to walk down any random alley to find quaint shops and cafes ready to charm you. Walking down the cobblestone streets, you seem to take a step back in time… Next stop, Paris – The City of Lights! [...]
Ok, I could get use to this ride! During our travels one thing we noticed was the difference in transportation alternatives. Most locals got around on foot, bike, moped, sub compact (Smart Cars), and of course the BMW C1. The first thing we noticed was of course the moped’s sunroof! I wish that these would catch on in America!
As our bus started down the road leading to this magnificent monument the cameras started to click. The Atomium is certainly a site! It was originally built for the Brussels World Fair in 1958, and while intended to be a temporary structure it remains today as one of the major attractions for visitors to Brussels. The structure itself is composed [...]
